Style

Most of my illustrative work is created in Illustrator and manipulated in Photoshop. For print design I start out in Photoshop, and put everything together in InDesign. I learned how to love art with comic books and grew up copying every comic book page and cover. In high school I discovered graphic design. In college I realized I can be an artist and make money, and it would be OK.

As a Graphic Designer my responsibilities included working with external clients to produce custom, effective and compelling materials and campaigns on a daily basis (Calendars, Brochures, Business Cards, Booklets, Books, CD Covers, Stickers (die cut and other), Flyers, Logos, et cetera), in addition to making sure already submitted files are print ready, and making corrections in real time to ensure minimal compromises occur when needed (correcting and adjusting bleeds, typography and resolution issues).

Linked are print examples, and department website redesign example. More print examples will be uploaded, and are also available to show in person (printed).

  • Mervyn's

I was an Assistant/Associate Textile Graphic Designer. It was my job to have the ability to complete technical design projects. Assist with exploration of new technologies and design direction, develop ability to bring them to market. Working knowledge of patterns, grading, fitting, and construction techniques and ability to utilize them to advance the product. My job was to create design concepts, work across multiple product categories if needed, within calendar timelines and to the creative standards set by management. In other words, I created graphics that go on clothing for boys 4-7 and 8-20 that are hip and cool and attractive to a specific audience (mom).

  • BMEzine

BMEzine is the biggest body modification (think tattoo, piercing and more extreme) site on the net. They are even banned in germany. I've created several T-shirt designs and advertisements for them. The shirts were always without direction but the advertisements had somewhat firm requirements. They had to be small and load fast, and of course make the viewer aware that they existed without being annoying. I used animated gifs and a very Cartoon Network kind of wit to make them successful. They can still be found randomly through out the bmezine.com galleries.

  • Shacknews

I was asked to create several icons for the recent site redesign at shacknews.com and its file hosting site, fileshack.com. Nearly every icon (with the exception of maybe two) were my responsibility. My favorite - The shack with the radar dish - this was a call back to the sites original logo, and its really exciting to see it brought back, it was met with warm feedback from long time fans and the sites owner.

  • Fox Racing

I interned at Fox Racing for a few months. It was a great experience, I got to see what goes on at the one of the worlds most recognized sports merchandise companies. My goal at Fox was to apply my fresh eyes to the logo design, my restrictions: I couldn't use a computer.

  • Drawings

These are my most popular pieces. They've been featured in various cafe's for sale in San Francisco and I've made a few limited prints of each for sale. They were never intended to be sold but they received such positive feedback that I had to take.

  • Logos
