Hello. I'm Grayson Smith.
I am a professional Graphic Designer.
I grew up in a pretty creatively nurturing home, with a dad who won a scholarship to The Art Center Pasadena, and a mom who finished school early, and owned her own business. It all started with tracing comic books in elementary school. Once a friend let me borrow an install disc for Adobe Photoshop in middle school, nothing was the same.
While majoring in Graphic Design at The Art Institute of California at San Francisco, I interned at Fox Racing and Airport Printing. I've worked at Electronic Arts as a Beta Tester, so I know all about long hours (170 in my first paycheck) and the importance of being a well oiled cog in a big machine. As a designer I've also worked for Mervyn's as an Assistant Textile Graphic Designer (although fashion isn't really my thing), PSPrint.com as an in-house designer, putting out fires left and right for the customer service dept and walk-in customer appointments.
I've created several icon sets for Shacknews.com and Ookla Net Metrics, creators of Speedtest.net. Now I work for Genuine Scooters, Scooterworks USA and Scooterworks Direct. Some days I'm a print designer where Friday blends into Saturday so the creative director and I can meet our 3 month deadline for the newest 380 page catalog, other days I'm tweaking in-line CSS for our email campaigns.
I'm also an avid cyclist. Road, mountain and fixed. I've been racing and riding since High School. I'm a Cervelo Test Team fan, but can't seem to shake my Specialized Habit. I currently race on a 2003 S-Works Aqua & Sapone frame and commute on a shiny silver Langster.
As of May 2010 I am a very lucky and happy man engaged to this woman.
